 I, THE CONSUMER

In the context of a modern, capitalist-driven society, where our lives are collectively dictated by the current global infastructure, is it possible to have a ‘unique’ identity as an individual living within this society?



I, The Consumer is a video installtion consisting of five monitors in space; all displaying various choreographic explorations shot in several locations throughout London. In each single chanel video, ‘mise en ebyme’ is employed for the viewer to bear witness to a selection of 1950s & 1960s american stock footage being played on the same monitor as featured in the physical portion of the installation; displaying the performer’s physical language and gestures as a response to this imagery.
